This is a new, genuine Dewey Electronics MEP-531A 2kW (3.5kW Peak) Military-issue, Single-Phase AC Generator with a Yanmar (John Deere) Diesel engine. It has both electronic *and* full manual pull-start — and it starts and runs on the very first cold pull! We’ll happily send you a 30-second video we took the same day we posted this listing of us cold-starting this generator (unfortunately, eBay does not permit posting videos). Absolutely **NO** battery or external power source is required to either start or run this unit, so in a true austere, electricity-deprived “SHTF” environment, this generator will keep humming right along. There are ZERO “issues,” “quirks,” or “niggles” with this unit. It is flawless, pristine, and perfect in every way — electrically, mechanically, and cosmetically. We have not done or added a single thing to this generator aside from check fluid levels and add fresh diesel fuel. All photos are of the actual unit and were taken the same day of posting — so, what you see is what you get. This unit *was* originally purchased and delivered to the US Military, but it was *never* deployed or used and has a grand total of ONLY 3.1 (three-point-one) test / calibration hours. It has the standard Military slave recepticle, so it can be slaved to another MEP generator of any output capacity for electronic start and pre-heat in freezing weather conditions. Properly maintained, MEP diesel generators are designed to run reliably for many *thousands* of hours in harsh environments or extreme conditions. It is incredibly overbuilt and intended to run at 100% of rated load for extended periods. Sound-output is roughly similar to your average push mower. It is not uncomfortably loud and would be ideal for “Glamping” and moderate RV’ing, especially if you want to recharge your solar or off-grid batteries. As you can see in the photo of the information panel on the unit, the external measurements are 29.5” long, 16” wide, and 22” high. Loaded with fluids and fuel, it weighs roughly 130-lbs. Two average people can easily move the generator short distances. The pull start is very light and can be started by those of “modest stature.” ;-) No more gummed up carburetors due to alcohol enriched gasoline that sucks up water. Diesel doesn't have the same problem as gasoline, and these units will be ready when you go camping, or during the next power outage. Lastly, yes… you can find used 531A’s cheaper, but you’ll likely never find one in literally new, perfect condition.
