Description: NATIVE AMERICAN TOTEM CHESSMEN Hand Made in Canada NORTHWEST NATIVE AMERICAN DESIGN These chessmen use traditional designs of the Native American Haida tribes, from the coastal regions of Western Canada. The figures shown are esteemed totem renderings, often used in the native paintings and totem poles of the indigenous population. FINE PRODUCTION The chessmen are hand made of Hydro-Stone, an especially durable gypsum product designed for use in art figurines and chessmen. They are hand painted and finished with a protective coating, and given an antique ‘ivory’ tone on the light pieces. The pieces are felted for pleasant use and protection of the playing surface. SIZE This naturally heavy set of 32 pieces weighs approximately 3¾ pounds (1.7 kg). The king stands 3½ inches (89 mm) tall. The widest base is 1 3/8 inches (35 mm). BOARD NOT INCLUDED Please note that this listing is for chessmen only – the board shown is not included. For reference, note that the board pictured has squares of 1 5/8 inches (40 mm).
