ORIGINAL LIONEL PREWAR SS INSULATED STANDARD GAUGE STRAIGHT TRACK

Description: Original Lionel SS Insulated Standard Gauge Straight Track. Lionel cataloged the SS Straight Track from 1922 - 1942. According to the light cardstock insert between two of the track rails, this piece accompanied many accessories including the 69 Warning Signal, 76 Block Signal, 77 Crossing Gate and 80 Semaphore. Features of this piece likely date it to circa 1926 - 1928. My conclusion on the dating of this track is based on the fact that the list of accessories referenced on the insert were only cataloged at the same time between 1926 - 1928. I believe Lionel later numbered the Standard Gauge insulated straight track as a 69-6. This piece with the insulated outside rail still sports the original white cardstock insert. The insert has instructions on which accessories the track is used with and notes the usage of red fibre pins in the insulated rail ends. Some soiling on the insert. There are no red fibre present any more. The track surface is reasonably clean. There is some rust/tarnishing on the track. If you are trying to complete one of the above accessories you will definitely want to add this track to your collection. They don't appear on the market very frequently.
