Description: Original Watercolor Painting Rainy Dusk by Japanese Artist Fukutaro Terauchi (1891-1975?) Watercolor painting Rainy Dusk by Japanese artist Fukutaro Terauchi in its original frame. Terauchi Fukutaro was born December 9,1891. In 1910 he entered the private school Kiyoteru Kuroda, and later became a member of the Hakuda Association. His name is often misread as Tanauchi or Tarauchi, and his body of work is confused with that of the better known Manjiro Terauchi, by collectors and auction houses alike. What is known is that he was prolific, steady in quality, and working mostly after the WWII. Probably, he’d died in 1975, but this cannot be confirmed. I've found a couple of his works that were auctioned on Sotheby’s, New York, April 24, 1991 [Lot 82 & Lot 85] “Japanese Works of Art - Prints and Paintings” with the estimate between $2,000 and $3,000 (please, see the last photo). The mat opening measures approx. 7 3/4” x 11 1/4”, and the frame measures approx. 12 3/4" x 16 3/4". Please view all photos for overall condition. Please feel free to ask any questions!
