ORVIS Impregnated Limestone Special. 8 FT 6 IN 6WT 2/2 Excellent Condition

Description: ORVIS Impregnated LIMESTONE SPECIAL. 8 FT 6 IN 6WT 2/2 Bamboo Fly Rod Well, you don't see this one very often! From my personal collection, although I am not the original owner. Serial number 68549 places this rod build in1973, the first year this Howard Steere taper was introduced. In fact, this rod was one of the first handful built. Smooth, balanced with a medium action. Tempered cane giving a mahogany appearance with original dark brown windings at the guides, tips, hook loop, and ferrules. No damage to any of the original windings. Some minor brassing of the carbide stripping guide. The varnish is excellent but it does have some line slap rubbing that does not detract from the overall look. All 3 sections are of original and full length. No tip or shaft repair is evident. Walnut spacer under the downward locking aluminum reel seat and carbide stripping guide are in excellent condition. Comes in original green cloth rod bag with black lace pull and green and silver label tube that is proper for the time period. The original hexagon shaped tube cap is in great shape. The aluminum tube including the label area is scuffed and scratched from use but it has done its job of keeping the rod beautiful (see pictures). Cork grip is cigar shaped and 6.5 inches in length. There is soiling on the grip from normal use however the grip is smooth (see pictures). I have not cleaned the grip as typically that never results in what you expect. So overall, given the above I would categorize this original rod and its components as in excellent condition, meaning that it exhibits only slight to moderate signs of being fished (and it has been fished!). Hardly a surprise for a rod that's over 50 years old! If there is any additional information I can provide, please feel at ease to ask. RETURNS Typically I do not allow returns on Ebay sales however for this vintage item I will allow the purchaser to examine (this strictly does NOT mean taking it fishing) the rod and accessories for 2 days from the date of delivery by the courier and, if not satisfied that I have accurately described its condition, the purchaser may return it to me in the exact condition I sent it in, by the same courier and at your sole expense for a full refund of the purchase price. If returning the item, the buyer must provide proof of shipping and courier tracking number to me before the expiry of the 2 day examination period. If the item is satisfactorily returned in adherence to the conditions set forth, I will refund the full purchase price + shipping paid (not the return shipping cost) within 5 business days of receiving it.
