Description: 1979 Pittsburgh Steelers vs. New England Patriots RARE Ticket Stub (Schaefer Stadium) Up for 'BUY IT NOW' is a rare original ticket stub from the Pittsburgh Steelers vs. New England Patriots Monday night NFL game which took place at Schaefer Stadium in Foxborough, MA back on September 3, 1979. This was the first game for both teams to start the 1979 NFL regular season. New England led most of this game until a late touchdown pass to Sidney Thornton from Terry Bradshaw tied the game in the 4th quarter. Matt Bahr of the Steelers kicked the game winning field goal in OT giving the Steelers a hard-fought 16-13 victory. Former Patriots wide receiver Darryl Stingley, who was paralyzed as a result of a Jack Tatum hit the previous season at Oakland, received a nice standing ovation for several minutes during this game while sitting in the press box. The Steelers would go on to defeat Miami and Houston in the playoffs before beating the Rams in Super Bowl XIV capturing their 4th championship. Not accepting offers on this item.
