Description: Preble County, OhioWhispering Oak; Fort St. ClairPublished by The Preble County Historical Society 1992Hardcover This history, the first comprehensive work published in Preble County since 1915, is not only a history of county inhabitants, it is history by those closer to it's making. Nearly fifty persons from the county's township and municipalities have compiled the information contained herein, funneling it to a central point for organizing and editing. Additionally, much of the regional information was gleaned from printed materials of past local historians of from personal records kept by predecessors of the compilers. It is truly a personal history, from the general history section, through the family histories. There are 589 family histories included. We are most grateful to the contributors of those but regret that personal accounts of other prominent citizens were not submitted. Often, accounts of the public or professional lives of the missing history-makers can be found in the general history section if not in the family histories.
