Description: Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders Officer’s cap/kilt/brooch/pin. From battle uniform worn in conflicts during both world wars. Provenance: From an Edinburgh military antique shop, purchased c. 1980s. We cannot confirm their claim as to its provenance and age, but it certainly was made in deep relief (repousse) with the Highlanders' 19th century crest. In VG++ antique condition. The crest has no dents or signs of damage; the copper pin mechanism on the back is missing a post. (See last photo)._____________________________________________ The Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders or 79th Regiment of Foot was an infantry regiment of the British Army, raised in 1793. It has been in service to Queen, King and Country for 231 years, beginning with the French campaign in 1794, through every military campaign and war since. In 1961 it was amalgamated with the Seaforth Highlanders (the Duke of Albany's) to form the Queen's Own Highlanders in 1961, which remains in existence today.
