""You can never repay these utterly broken men. But you can show your gratitude by helping to build this Home, where they will be tenderly cared for during the rest of their lives. Treasurer, The British Women's Hospital Fund, 21 Old Bond Street, W." --Illustration by Bernard Partridge, originally a poster, showing a robed allegorical figure of womanhood supporting an injured man as she helps him through a doorway, captioned, "Haven. --The Star & Garter Home in Richmond opened its doors to the first residents on 14 January 1916, under the auspices of the British Red Cross Society, to care for the severely disabled young men returning from the battlegrounds of the First World War.Size: Partial page cartoon, cropped as shown in the first image measure 5 3/4 x 7 inches.
