Rare 1950's Vintage Original Labels Volcanic Flame Le Creuset Orange Red Skillet

Description: Today I am happy to present.... A Very Rare New Old Stock Volcanic Flame Orange & Red Le Creuset Enameled Cast Iron Skillet with Original Vintage Labels An extraordinary museum-quality piece with two original vintage stickers attached, destined to be a centerpiece in one of the world's finest Le Creuset collections. The current Le Creuset logo has been in use continuously since 1970, but the label on this rare old pan shows a completely different logo. Based on the typography, I would estimate that the label dates to the 1950's. This label is shaped like a blue ribbon and says: "FONTE ÉMAILLÉE / LE CREUSET." This label is a bit ragged at the edges but still displays nicely. I was not able to find any other examples of this early Le Creuset label or logo. The second label is in fine condition. It is embossed metallic foil green and gold, stating: "MADE IN FRANCE / Gourmet product / Schiller & Asmus INC / CHICAGO." I am guessing this label was placed by the American importer. I have seen some similar labels, but I could not find any other examples of this particular old label. The ones I have seen look newer than this one. This size 20 pan is about 8 inches wide, and 1-7/8" high externally. Overall it is about 18" long including the solidly attached wood handle. About 5" maximum height including handle. Convenient metal hanging loop at end of the handle makes this gem easy to display in your home or museum. As with all the early Le Creuset pieces, this one has the iconic orange / red finish known as Flame in the US. In Europe this color combination is known as Volcanic or Volcanique. The interior is a lovely speckled grey finish with a hint of light blue, reminiscent of robin’s egg blue. Also typical for Le Creuset enameled cookware, there are a few minor inconsistencies in the application of this original unused enamel finish. These inconsistencies are common in fine handcrafted enameled cast iron cookware such as this piece. The bottom of pan has the following markings cast into the metal: "20" in a diamond (tilted square) along with "MADE IN FRANCE / LE CREUSET." In addition there is a faint white painted marking "MADE IN FRANCE" I believe. I imagine this light painted marking is hard to find intact. The original solid wood handle has some minor scuffs and character, earned over many years. This beautiful old vintage pan displays wonderfully!
