Yemenite Jewish manuscript script. This hand-written fragment is approximately 250 years old. it is prized for its beauty of its parchment and its beautiful writing. The condition: has signs of wear and age The text is mostly readable and clear, A few small holes, this is an antique screen. The scroll would have once contained other pieces, but is now just a fragment of text. It looks like a passage from a book of the Bible, and not from a common Torah book. A Torah book usually contains a minimum of 42 lines in a column, and according to Yemeni tradition it contained 51 lines in a column. Also, the piece before us contains only 31 lines and does not contain tags on the letters As is customary in a normal Torah book. A parchment page is handwritten on one side, in black ink, and contains 31 lines. Measures approx. 11" x 6.30" This is from the book of Deuteronomy 12:28 - 13:16 Deuteronomy 12:29–13:16Moses warned them against being lured into the ways of the residents of the land, and against inquiring about their gods, for the residents performed for their gods every abhorrent act that God detested, even offering up their sons and daughters in fire to their gods. Moses warned the Israelites carefully to observe only that which he enjoined upon them, neither adding to it nor taking away from it. In the continuation of the reading, Moses instructed that if a prophet (nabhi, נבָיִא) appeared before the Israelites and gave them a sign or a portent and urged them to worship another god, even if the sign or portent came true, they were not to heed the words of that prophet, but put the offender to death. In a further continuation of the reading, Moses instructed that if a brother, son, daughter, wife, or close friend enticed one in secret to worship other gods, the Israelites were to show no pity, but stone the offender to death. And as the reading continues, Moses instructed that if the Israelites heard that some scoundrels had subverted the inhabitants of a town to worship other gods, the Israelites were to investigate thoroughly, and if they found it true, they were to destroy the inhabitants and the cattle of that town (an "Ir nidachat") burning the town and everything in it.
