Description: For your consideration, this Cercle de Soldat plate featuring a rooster. These plates were made as described: The municipality of the VIth district of Paris decides to publish art ceramics for a charity sale for the benefit of war works. Models are created by students of the schools of decorative art of Paris. These drawings, directly referenced to the period, will be reproduced, according to the needs, by the manufacture of Quimper Henriot in 1917. All the plates are marked "Cercle du Soldat du VIe arrondissement" as well as the name of the Parisian creator of the design. The President of the Republic, Raymond Poincaré, inaugurated this charity sale in June 1917, in the village hall of the VIth arrondissement. (Taken from the Internet) Many of these plates were by H R Quimper but as this one is not signed as such, I can't be sure, plus the fact that I think it is porcelain. Many of these were shown in the book, Les Grande Guerre, Les Assiettes It measures almost 9 1/2 inches and is in excellent condition. Please look closely at the photos. These are very rare and difficult to find. Thank you for viewing this auction.
