Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE For over 35 years, race teams and fans headed down Airport Road to N.J.¹s East Windsor Speedway for exciting competition each Friday night. It was long-time Modified owner Don Jones who constructed East Windsor Speedway over the winter of 1964 and 1965, on the site of the original quarter-mile paved Hightstown Speedway. He then opened his half-mile clay oval on June 11, 1965. That meet had a full pit area of the top drivers and teams of the era. That set the stage for regular Friday; but often Sunday and even some Saturday and mid-week night, competition under the guidance of Jones, his family and a group of family and friends officials through the track’s final event in August 2002. In between, Jones successfully guided East Windsor Speedway to its high stature in the Northeast. Other than a short span in the late-1970s when others coordinated racing at Windsor, it was always Don Jones, his son Don Jr. (Butch) and their family that not only ran the racing events but also took care of the pit area activity and food concessions. They were joined by a dedicated group of officials that became known as the “East Windsor Family”. This DVD depicts auto racing At East Windsor Speedway, as shown through a previously-released DVD “Dirt Track Memories” from Snyder Video Productions and Ace Lane; plus new footage produced by John & Gerry Fillimon of Fillimon Brothers Racing Video. Don Jones died in 2007. This is our tribute to Don, his family and East Windsor Speedway!
