Description: See the 7 high-resolution photos to assess condition of this Coffee Cup. This Rough Riders' Coffee Cup has some "provenance" of sorts -- we found it about 50 years ago in a curiosity shop in Las Vegas, New Mexico -- where the fabled Rough Riders had mustered out before being shipped to Cuba to meet their famous rendevous with destiny in the Spanish-American war in 1898, with future-president (then Lieutenant-Colonel) Theodore Roosevelt famously leading the charge of the Rough Riders up San Juan Hill, something for which TR would later be awarded a Congressional Medal of Honor, as his son Theodore Roosevelt, Jr. also would for his actions on D-Day in France in WWII. After the hostilities with Spain ended, the Rough Riders held annual reunions all the way up until 1967 (with just 1 lone attendee that last year), some in Las Vegas New Mexico (TR last attended in 1905 and died in 1919). We've found no info on this cup we obtained where the Troop mustered out, but possibly these were part of the annual reunions, perhaps handed out to the attendees as gifts/tokens of appreciation. If anyone reading this listing can enlighten us on these Rough Riders/TR coffee cups from Las Vegas, New Mexico please do so!! We will appreciate the info! Regardless, this is a darn cool collectible!
