We recommend mixing it 1/4 cup per gallon. You can mix as small of a batch at a time as you want as long as it's mixed to the correct ratio. This product comes in a nice resealable bag and will have a very long shelf life if left in powder form so you can use it for future DIY projects. When you first mix it up some of the product may not dissolve completely but that's normal, stir for 5 minutes then stir occasionally during use. We recommend testing a small sample of wood first since different species of wood will take treatment and coloring differently. If using a sprayer, mix and let sit for 5 minutes. Stir well, and strain before putting in sprayer. Make sure wood is clean and dry. Apply generously so it covers well. Make sure all surfaces have been completely covered. Some wood surfaces will not show change immediately this is normal. After exposure to sun and rain the treatment will react with the wood and gradually change the color to a rich silver gray or dark brown patina depending on your wood type. Only one treatment is ever needed unless the product wasn't applied evenly. Simply reapply generously.
