Sketches of the Character Manners of the Highlanders of Scotland, 1822 Leather

Description: A 2-volume hardback/leather set in fair condition, 1822. A map originally attached to the front of Vol. 1 is missing. Books have leather spine and corners with marbled boards. Spine has raised bands and red morocco gilt labels. The leather is fairly worn and bumped, rubbed hard at a couple corners and boards are scuffed in places. Spine edges are worn on both volumes but on Vol. 2 the leather is cracked (last pic) at the top corner down and the cover is beginning to separate from the book. Bookplate of James Todd Stewart on both volumes. The original text within is quite good with few signs of wear - endpapers and pages at extremities have only minor age spotting. However, the first 4 pages of Vol. 1 have taped edge tears at binding.
