Description: “A” Machine The Sony MDS E12 MiniDisc Recorder was widely used in professional music studios, edit suites and tv control rooms. Prized for its quality, dependability and ease of use, it remains popular among enthusiasts of the MiniDisc format also for its variety of unique editing capabilities. It records and plays back the MD LP, LP2 and LP4 formats. The short-lived Hi-MD formats were never adopted by the professional machines and such discs are not recognized. The E12's high quality recording and playback abilities, its exceptional edit and titling functions, track shifting, ability to interact with a variety of external edit control sources, input and output of coaxial digital audio and other professional provisions such as balanced audio inputs and outputs permit ideal source recording and playback. A favorite feature is its ability to input a PS/2 legacy keyboard to control all of its operation and extensive edit functions as well as add up to 1,700 characters of new data in each disc’s metadata space. Track title, artist, or other comments can be added, even on already recorded and assembled mini discs and then be displayed during playback. This unit has been tested to record and play back properly, displaying any added information. Some of its many other functions have not been individually tested but functioned correctly when last used. It should be fully functional. This is a US/Canada specs unit, not a Japanese one and does not require an additional power transformer to change input voltage. It is offered in “as is” condition. Includes Operating Manual, keyboard map and rack mount ears. IR remote (RM-DR1) not included.
