That format was released in 2006 and abandoned by Toshiba in 2008. Unless you have a special combo player, the HD DVDs will not play on Blu-Ray players. They may play in certain computers and DVD players released after 2008. Check your computer or player's spec sheet before buying. 8 NTSC region 1 discs. These have the remastered special effects that are currently being used on streaming versions of ST:TOS. Discs are double sided, one side standard DVD, the other HD-DVD. They come with 5"x5.5" plastic cards with episode info. I did have a capable Toshiba player at the time, so I got these.
