STUNNING ANTIQUE EARLY VICTORIAN EUROPEAN 18K GOLD DIAMOND 5-STONE RING c1850

Description: An utterly stunning early Victorian period diamond ring. This fascinating and deeply beautiful piece is from 1840's-50's Europe, and is in solid 18 carat gold with silver diamond cells. A most intriguing style that's very clearly before its time, a silver knife-edge joins the five stones - graduated to either side and with some wonderful eyelash castellation to their surrounds. This is mirrored in the gold beads along the edge, and along with the terracing of the design, gives a real sense of depth and detail that constrasts wonderfully with the overall simplicity of the piece. Five sparkling white old mine-cut diamonds rest in organic-looking solid silver cells and grab the eye with their super clean lines and unpredictable, hand cut facets. They weigh in at roughly 0.5ct in total and are around J/K colour and VVS to SI clarity. The band is a lovely ribbed ribbon that splits at the shoulders, and my favourite aspect of this piece is the alternating gold and silver best seen from the back of the head. It bears a European gold control mark to the outer back of the band and is in wonderful antique condition, with light wear to the metal and no loss or damage. It's a size 8.5 and can be resized a little if needed. It weighs in at 3.5 grams and measures 6.5 mm across the head.
