Like National's later electrified steel guitars, Supro steel guitars were also manufactured by Valco. This Twin was released in 1948. It is a 23-inch scale 6-string double-neck lap steel. In 1955, the name was changed to Console along with a change in specifications. This particular guitar was made in 1950. It features a string-through pickup that is popular among blues slide guitarists. The pearloid-covered body and geometric position marks give it a retro feel that is symbolic of the era. There are some scratches, dirt, and metal rust, but considering the age, it can be said that it maintains a relatively clean appearance.The axis of the 4th string peg on the front neck is bent, but it does not interfere with use. The knob of the peg has been replaced with a new one. Also, this particular guitar was originally attached to the body with a shielded cable, but it has been modified to use a regular shielded cable and a phone jack has been installed. The switches and pots also seem to have been replaced. Also, a counterbore has been added to the cavity under the control plate.The included case may be genuine, but we are not sure. The original latch that slides the button is broken and does not function, so a different latch is used to secure the lid.There are surprisingly few double-neck steel guitars without legs.
