Description: "Twice Signed" James Alloway Custom Made Obelisk, 7/02 Entitled "Late Night" All Reasonable Offers Will Be Considered! I live near Wheaton Arts and Cultural Center, home of the Museum of American Glass.Visiting on a regular basis, I have had the opportunity of meeting a number of glass artists who exhibit their work or demonstate their craft, such Paul Stankard. When possible, my preference is to visit a studio and buy directly from the artist such as I have done with Josh Simpson, Chris Belleau, Randi Solin, among others. As for James Alloway, his studio is in Portland Oregon so that was not an option. I did have a piece, the bottom of which I wanted refaced in the studio's cold shop, so I called him up. It was a great conversation, and he mentioned a piece he was working on and asked if it would be to my liking. It was but it was yet unamed, so suggesting it was getting late on the East Coast, I said would you be ok with calling/signing it, "Late Night?" That is what this piece is called and not only is it signed on the bottom, but it is also signed on one of the faceted sides. "One of a Kind" is such an overused phrase, but in this case this "Alloway" with its unique name, "Late Night" truly is a OOAK! This piece is not uniform in design as are Alloway's marbles, paperweights or other pieces....it is FREE-FORM making it far more difficult to craft! All of the above mentioned should be taken into account when considering adding this piece to your collection and the satisfaction you will get as a result. Very difficult to photograph, you will love this piece. It is approximately 7" tall by 3 1/2" at its widest point. This piece is not for everyone, but if you want to have an "Alloway" unlike any other in shape or execution, this is the piece for you. The photos are part of the description Reasonable offers will be considered and payment will be required upon receiving the invoice. Check my feedback and buy with confidence.
