Description: A fantastic quality early Victorian mourning ring, in solid 15 carat gold and unusually with scrolled castellations around its entire circumference. The gently tapering band is fabulously thick quality, deep and reassuringly weighty, and the channel between the edging is empty - it would have originally held a woven hair memento, this is long gone.My favourite part of this piece is the ring's head - a scrolling banner device in 3d that jumps out at you, that's simultaneously like a fish and like an eternity symbol. It may have originally been engraved with someone's initials. The inner band is engraved with the initials 'ESR' and it's in wonderful original condition for its age, showing only light wear to high points. It dates to around 1840 and is a size 5.25, not resizeable. It weighs 2.9 grams and measures 6 mm across the head. All my items are guaranteed 100% as described or your money back, so buy with confidence!
