Description: AN ORIGINAL US NAVY REGULATION STAFF MUSICIAN DRESS HELMET PLATE FOR THE 1881 DRESS HELMET.THE LYRE FOR US NAVY MUSICIAN IS A LITTLE NARROWER AND A LITTLE TALLER THAN THE US ARMY ONE AS SHOWN IN THE PICTURE PROVIDED.THIS HELMET PLATE IS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION WITH SOME PATINA AND TARNISH. THERE IS A LITTLE VERT DE GRIS ON THE LYRE. IT IS SLIGHTLY CURVED TO CONFORM TO THE SHAPE OF THE HELMET. THE WIRE LOOPS ON THE BACK ARE PRESENT BUT BENT DOWN. THE LEAD SOLDERS HAVE THE APPROPRIATE PATINA FOR THEIR AGE, QUITE DARK. WELL PRESERVED HELMET PLATE, GUARANTEED TO BE ORIGINAL. CONSIDERING HOW SMALL THE US NAVY WAS IN THAT PERIOD AND FEW MUSICIAN BAND MEMBERS, THIS IS A VERY RARE PLATE. PLEASE REVIEW THE PICTURES PROVIDED TO EVALUATE THIS PLATE.
