Description: Unique original US Air Force official photo of squadron patch / insignia artwork from WWI - WWII. This photo came with a small collection of squadron insignia photos, many of which were dated in the 1960s. I am sure that this photo was also printed in the 1960s despite the lack of a date. The squadron insignia is for the US Army Air Corps / Army Air Forces 8th Attack Squadron. Active from 1923 to 1939 before being redesignated as 8th Bombardment Squadron. Early aircraft were GA-1, O-2, and A-3. Later active in Vietnam era for one year only, from November 1969 to September 1970. Then redesignated 8th Special Operations Squadron. The 8th SOS was attached to the 3rd TFW at Bien Hoa Air Base, South Vietnam, flying the Cessna A-37 Dragonfly. Other designations include Aero, Fighter and Bombardment Squadron.
