Description: New USS John F. Kennedy (CV-67), or JFK, carrier-shaped challenge coin. The coin is 3" x .77" x .157" with diecast impressions on front and back. Coin is cast from the ship's blueprint and is to scale. The front is the ship's logo embedded over the flight deck layout. The back includes the ship's name and the motto, Date Nolite Rogare which is Latin for "Give, be unwilling to ask" or "Give, do not ask". The USS John F. Kennedy (CV-67) was a conventionally powered aircraft carrier commissioned on September 7, 1968. Throughout its nearly four decades of service, it participated in numerous significant military operations. In the 1970s and 1980s, the carrier was deployed multiple times to the Mediterranean Sea, supporting U.S. interests during the Cold War and responding to crises such as the Lebanon conflict in 1983. In August 1990, following Iraq’s invasion of Kuwait, the USS John F. Kennedy was one of the first carriers deployed to the Red Sea to support Operation Desert Shield, and subsequently participated in Operation Desert Storm in 1991, launching air strikes against Iraqi forces. Throughout the 1990s, the carrier enforced no-fly zones over Iraq during Operation Southern Watch and supported NATO operations in the Balkans, including Bosnia and Kosovo. In 2003, it supported Operation Iraqi Freedom by launching air strikes during the initial invasion of Iraq.
