Description: 1st Printing. Original 1998-1999 tankobon editions. For sale by original owner. Purchased new (I think...see caveat, below) in Japan in 2003 (price stickers are still on the interior of the slip covers). Please look at the photos closely. I am a collector, myself, so I take the effort to photo document the condition as well as I can. You will note the scuff marks on the edges of the slip covers, and what appear to be scratches on the interior covers. I never took the slip covers off until taking these photos, so I can only imagine the interior cover marks are either a part of the printing process, or otherwise an intentional feature of the books. I say these were new, but as I think back twenty years, now, I really don't know. My Japanese was never great, and I visited a couple of manga shops, and one of them may have been a used/collectors store. I don't know. It's quite possible these were used books at the time that I purchased them. Free insured shipping via USPS Media Mail. Wikipedia description: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uzumaki Uzumaki (γγγΎγ, lit. "Spiral"[5]) is a Japanese horror manga series written and illustrated by Junji Ito. Appearing as a serial in the weekly seinen manga magazine Big Comic Spirits from 1998 to 1999, the chapters were compiled into three bound volumes by Shogakukan and published from August 1998 to September 1999. The series tells the story of the citizens of Kurouzu-cho, a fictional city which is plagued by a supernatural curse involving spirals. The story for Uzumaki originated when Ito attempted to write a story about people living in a very long terraced house, and he was inspired to use a spiral shape to achieve the desired length. Ito believes the horror of Uzumaki is effective due to its subversion of symbols which are positively portrayed in Japanese media, and its theme of protagonists struggling against a mysterious force stronger than themselves. Uzumaki continues to receive critical acclaim, deemed by many as Ito's magnum opus. A.I. description: This manga set includes volumes 1, 2, and 3 of the Uzumaki series, written by Junji Ito. The books are softcover and in Japanese language. They feature the anime character designs and fall under the manga tradition. The set is a must-have for collectors of Asian comics and comic book memorabilia. Free shipping is included.
