Description: Valley Oak (Quercus Lobata) Tree in 1 Gallon Pot Local Pickup The Valley Oak tree thrives in USDA zones 7a - 9b and is native to the hot valleys of California but requires access to groundwater. As one of the largest native oaks, it can grow to 20 feet in 5 years, reach 60 feet in 20 years and live to be several hundred years old. The Valley Oak has distinctive deeply lobed green leaves 2 - 4 inches long and 1 - 2 inches wide. It has a large, spreading crown and with age, the branches assume a drooping characteristic. Its acorns are a food source for many birds and wildlife. This is a large low-maintenance, drought-resistant, deciduous tree best suited for an area that allows for its eventual size. I have seen one planted in a local backyard, but it is pruned to maintain the spread. I have included several pictures of this tree and one of its acorns and leaves. I have 2 trees for sale and the price shown is for one tree. Each tree was grown from seed and planted in a one-gallon nursery pot. Excluding the pot, these trees are less than 1 foot tall, but may be taller when purchased. Note: This item is described and photographed as accurately as possible, but please message me with any questions you may have. It is sold as-is with no return and is local pickup only. Sales tax will be added to your purchase as laws require. Thank you for your interest!
