Description: I’m very excited to offer this incredible, restored c.1930’s flush mount schoolhouse style, enameled steel fixture featuring an equally over-scaled glass shade ! WOW! This art deco-era piece is in fantastic vintage condition with a nice original patina. Being of an enameled finish, which is a relatively maintenance free surface, this piece got a good cleaning, but still shows signs of age. There is some minor crazing in the glaze, but overall the enamel is in excellent shape for its age. The porcelain socket and wiring are new, as are mounting bar and brass mounting balls. I’ve not ever seen or offered a flush mount style piece before with such an over-scaled mounting diameter. Measuring 10 inches across, it will more than amply cover a modern junction box - an important consideration when thinking of installing vintage lighting. The shade is magnificent! Wildly, impressively oversized, it REALLY stands out, lit or unlit. The glossy finish brightens the light when lit. There are a handful of fitter-end chips. This is common, of minor importance, and they are completely hidden once installed. The only other flaws of note about the shade are some embedded air bubbles and minuscule particulate matter leftover from the manufacturing process - this is how you know that the glass is old, and it adds to the charm of owning an antique. The fitter is 4 inches in diameter, and it is 10 inches across as it’s widest point. I picture this in a kitchen or a large hallway - being so utilitarian, it would work in many settings. This fixture measures about 13 inches long, and, again, 10 inches diameter at both the canopy and the widest point of the shade. Light bulbs are not included in the sale. Shipped via UPS Ground.
