This piece is coming from the prominent, Ralph Walker designed, NYC landmark Art-Deco building circa 1930. The design of the mail chute system in this building was done in Art Deco style to compliment the overall building design. Beautiful piece with known provenance. The mailing pocket made of Nickel-Silver alloy. This alloy has aluminum like finish when it is new or cleaned. This is not common material used for Cutler mail chute mailing pocket. Most commonly used materials were brass, bronze. This piece is heavy. It is from Model F mail chute. Made by Cutler Mail Chute Co., Rochester, NY. Dimensions are approximately: front - 5-1/4"W X 5-3/4"H; back - 6-1/2"W X 6-1/2"H without prongs; 1" thick. It is quite heavy, almost 4 pounds. The piece is in good overall condition. Some minor scratches, little rust on the back steel plate, missing one screw from top back steel plate but the plate secured tight with one screw.
