Description: This is a very unique Vintage Gun Powder Barrel or Keg. It is made of fiberboard, wood and heavy waxed paper. It is marked 50 Pounds and holds about 5 gallons. This came from an estate auction and had about 3 gallons of gun powder in it. The barrel is now empty, though you can see in one of the pictures a few powder rods still remain in the bottom of the barrel. The body and bottom of the barrel is made from heavy fiberboard, the bottom is lined with heavy waxed paper. The top consists of a solid piece of wood covered with heavy fiberboard, lined with heavy waxed paper. The whole lid is held on with a metal clip ring. There are water stains on the exterior of the barrel but none on the inside. The powder was dry when I emptied it out. The barrel and lid both have partial shipping labels as well as printed barrel labels but they are illegible.
