It only uses numbers for the minutes though, and there are no 'hands'. Hours are displayed on 4 groups of 3 segments coming out radially from the centre. Three full segments is one quarter of the dial and represents 3 o'clock, and it's the same idea with 6, 9, and 12. There is one button which can switch the display to a target (short press), or set the time (long press). There is also a seconds marker around the edge where an LCD segment shows every 5 seconds at the right place around the dial. For a short time, in the mid to late 1990s, a husband and wife company who designed LCD timepieces for trendy giftshops, were suddenly thrust into the spotlight when a costume designer for Star Trek: The Next Generation happened upon one of these pieces and made it part of Worf the Klingon’s character’s outfit.
