Description: I only bought spurs one time in my life and now a few weeks from my 87th Birthday I will try to sell spurs one time too. I purchased these from an older neighbor about 30-40 years ago when they looked like they were totally made out of silver as they really shined. Obviously that is not the case, but when I took them off the wall a week ago they were no longer shiny like before. The elderly neighbor said he bought them in Mexico, as a young man, when he would travel from his work in Alaska and spend his money foolishly in Mexico in the winter. So to venture a guess I think these were probably hand made in Mexico in about 1940's or 50's. I paid him fairly good money when I purchased them due to the possible shiny silver or whatever is shiny. When I looked at them recently I thought I did not want to ruin collector value, but I wanted to see if I could bring them back to shiny condition again. I pulled out some Flitz and rubbed away on just one part of one spur and wow it really shined again. So is it silver plate that is on the spurs? Something else? I know they could probably be dipped in some solution and it would make the job easier, but I will leave that up to the buyer. There are 8 rowels and the leather work is really nice and probably for sure this is hand tooled. To my knowledge these have never been used, but they are also not in an original box as new either. I am guessing at almost everything except I was told he purchased them in Mexico a long time ago. The two spurs are fairly heavy and weigh just short of 1 pound. I will not sell or ship these spurs to anyone outside of the USA. They will be shipped by Ground Advantage with USPS.I priced these somewhere in the middle of sold prices of similar engraved ones, so if I am out of line on my pricing, you can inform me by not buying. Thank You
