Description: Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome. You are looking at a nice and somewhat rarer Shure Brothers 578 model Omnidyne (omni-directional) dynamic microphone from the 1960's. This was a very modern design for Shure at the time and has a sleek, clean look to it. This was great for general broadcasting and recording purposes. The 578 is set at High impedance and has a clear, clean tone that is void of bass. It comes with the short cable shown in which to operate, the mic clip, new exterior pop filter and original mic case. You can see the mics characteristics in pic # 2 from an old Shure catalog I have. It should be noted that about half of the 578 series mics I come across no longer work so do be make sure that any of these you buy is actually in good working order before you pull the trigger. The 578 microphone was short run production Shure microphone manufactured for about 10 to 15 years and had an incredibly small dynamic element for it's time with a clean dual impedance sound and one of Shure Brothers most expensive dynamic mics available. As you can see in the pictures provided...this 578 is in very nice condition having just lite wear. Please let the detailed pics be your guide. The Shure label looks really good and the on / off switch works excellent. The front screen is free of any tarnish or odors but there is a subtle dent. I tried to replace the inner pop filter as they are always gone after so many years but the screen is glued on too well to remove so I'm including the new exterior black foam pop filter. This really helps with the sound characteristics too. It fits like a glove and looks great on the mic. Physically speaking this 578 is an easy 8 on a scale of 1 - 10. The mic itself is appx 11 inches long X 3/4 inches wide. Very lite weight and easy to hold for prolonged periods of time. A short 7 inch cable is attached to the mic. It was cut short and a quality Switchcraft male XLR end connector was attached. It's far more practical. Soft, pliable and free of damage. Simply attach any longer XLR cable as an extension to your audio equipment only when needed. The mic clip is a Shure A57D model that works great for this mic and will screw onto any desk or floor stand you have. Plenty of tilt up and down as needed. The clip is in excellent shape. The blue plastic Shure mic case is a great place to keep the mic when not in use. It's a durable case that shows lite exterior wear but works great and has two new foam inner pads to keep the mic safe and snug. The top lid closes via tension. A great accessory especiually for resale value. MICROPHONE STAND SHOWN IS NOT PART OF THIS SALE..USED FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY... I do have several period stands for sale if you need one? A beautiful 578 worthy of any fine vintage mic collection and great to use on the daily. As with all my vintage microphones... I can promise you will be happy with it for the price paid. If not...I have a no hassle return policy. The shipping will be on you as I believe that's fair but the purchase price would be refunded. Simply return in the same nice condition...period.
