Description: Childhood FavoritesThese glass ornaments are believed to have been manufactured by Corning Glass and decorated by or for Schmid of Randolph, MA.Schmid had licensing deals with many artists and reproduced those works with great care and quality control. In the early 20th C. Corning adapted their lightbulb blowing machinery to make Christmas balls. Many were marketed under the label of Shiny Brite. In the 1970s the company sold ornaments under their own name. The images in this collection are:“The Tale of Flopsy Bunnies” by Beatrix PotterDated 1986 and marked Tenth Limited Edition, the ball has the same illustration of Thomasina Tittlemouse on both sides. The author, painter and naturalist wrote over 60 children’s books.Paddington Bear “The Night Before Christmas”This is the Eden toys version of the beloved character created by British author Michael Bond. Paddington is pictured reading in bed. The same image is on both sides of the ball. The date 1981 and Third Limited Edition are in small print on the ball.Kitty Cucumber “Tea for Two” dated 1991, licensed from B. Shackman (another supplier of lovely holiday ornaments.)The original Kitty Cucumber books were written by Jim Lillemoe, illustrated by Mary Peters Lillemoe and published in 1986. These balls are offered elsewhere from $10 to $35 each.All items in this offering are just as they came from the factory. They have been kept in climate-controlled storage.
