Description: This postcard is a "novelty" card, with 10 little fold out photo illustrations of a region in Central Germany that, after WWII, became East Germany. The region is Thuringia, also called Ore Mountains, and was home to toy makers for the Erzgebirge region included in this area. The cards don't show Erzgebirge (I don't think) but I am not 100% sure. In researching the photos, I found that they are a group called the Lost Spas. They include photos of some that are no longer around, and some that have become other things. They were ultra popular in the 1920's, and drew customers from all over the world, including Germans, Jews, and more. Alas, that all ended. The stamps on the cards are NOT of "He who shall Not be named", but of a previous ruler (I don't know which one). They are from the 3rd Reich, not the infamous 4th. The card is really sweet, and features a really darling little "nurse" girl, which is in keeping with the photos inside her dress of the spas, which is where people would often go to recover from illnesses. Tuberculosis was a common ailment that folks tried to recover from in the Spas all over Europe, not just these. With what we no know, we can understand why the spas didn't work for some folks. There are 10 little photos measure about 1 1/4" by 1". This is a lovely, rare card, coming from an era that is now gone.
