Due to the feat of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the citizens of Mykolaiv, the city survived and stopped the enemy invasion, protecting the south of our country. After Ukrainian troops forced the enemy back to Kherson, Mykolaiv, which had been damaged but not conquered, gradually returned to life: railroad service, electricity, water, and heat supply were restored. On 24 March 2022, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy awarded Mykolaiv the honorary title of Hero City of Ukraine.
