Description: Very rare and beautiful Victorian horned sheep figure. Probably once would have been used as a toy but now it is a rare collectable item and must be handled with care. Coat I believe is real wool with leather ears. The body and face I is made up of papier mache. The tail shows it is wire and wool. HeThe sheep or lamb is posed with one foot off the ground. Not sure if the horns are made of wood or papier mache but they are very realistic. Is this a Swaledale breed ? Just a guess. Size is approx 13 inches x 13ins length. Dates to 19th century. Condition is very good for age. Wear ..tail is bit sharp at end but being a sheep, it would not have been longer. Some wear to legs but nothing which detracts. Will post tracked.
