Description: Original and one-of-a-kind WW2 era American "theater-made" fighting knife made from the tip of the Spanish-American War era Krag M1898 bayonet for the blade and a nicely re-worked gun shell case for the handle. The knife comes with original leather scabbard in decent condition; both are completely unmarked. The overall quality of this practical fighter is actually pretty high. The handle was definitely made by an expert - it is as practical as it is beautiful. This fighting knife is about 8-7/8″/22.5 cm overall; the blade is about 5-1/4″/13.3 cm; the blade has been re-sharpened; it is very sharp still; the tip is slightly nicked. Original scabbard is a contemporary re-purposed hunting knife sheath; it fits the blade perfectly. It's in good over shape; the leather is soft and supple still. Similar types are illustrated in THEATER MADE MILITARY KNIVES OF WORLD WAR II book by Bill and Debbie Wright. The knife comes with original leather scabbard in decent condition; both are completely unmarked. The overall quality of this unique but practical fighter is actually pretty high. The handle was definitely made by an expert in metal working - this slim handle is as practical as it is beautiful; the lines and the fit are well-executed. This interesting fighting knife is about 8/7/8″ / 22.5 cm overall; the blade is about 5-1/4″ / 13.3 cm long; the blade has been re-sharpened; it is very sharp still; the tip is slightly nicked.
