Description: Yellow ware spaniel doorstop with brown glaze early 19th Century Mid 19th Century, yellow ware figure with brown drip glaze. This original has outstanding mold work and glaze. The head of dog has been broken and glued back. Please see our photos. Condition Notes: Break and re-glue to the head (a very good repair). Small (old) chips around the base, commensurate with age and use as a doorstop. Two tight hairlines showing on the inside of the base that do not go all the way through to the outside - may be glaze cracks. Provenance: Information is included on family history, tracing the dog back to 1878, surviving a house fire in Bennington, VT. The doorstop passed down in the same family into the late 20th Century. Dimensions: 12" height, base is 9.5" x 6.5" From the Late Daniel N Miller Jr. Former Assistant Secretary of the Interior (1981-1983) and Esther Miller Estate. These 5 pictures are included as part of our description. Please examine carefully before purchase.
